FAQ

What can Presence Sensor FP2 do?

Presence Sensor FP2 can detect presence/absence, falls, events of someone entering, leaving, approaching, going away and illuminance, and supports real-time tracking of multiple targets and zone settings.

Can Presence Sensor FP2 support multi-person detection?

Yes, it supports tracking up to 5 targets. Yet the best result can be achieved in case of tracking not more than 3 persons.

What is the detection zone?

The detection zone enables users to configure zone automation. Users can select from 320 cells provided for better automation setup, such as setting the sofa, bathroom, study, and dining table. Set zones will be added to the automation conditions. You can create up to 30 zones.

What is the use of stickers?

The stickers are used for reference so that users know more accurately where the target is located. The stickers will not affect the device's detection performance.

What is the use of the interference source, entrance and exit, and edge settings? Are they necessary?

FP2 applies millimeter-wave technology, which is sensitive to moving objects. The more complete setup is, the more accurate the detection can be.
1) Interference: Living and office spaces often have moving targets such as curtains, fans, green plants moved by wind, and clothes hanging. If the sensor detects these objects, a false alarm may easily occur, so it needs to be marked as an interference source. Currently, the interference source marking is mainly for objects with smaller emission signals, such as green plants and running water.
2) Edge: The setting of the edge is mainly used to counteract false targets caused by a wall or other object reflection signals. The area outside the wall is also suggested to be set as the edge.
3) Entrance and Exit: It can accelerate target creation and deletion speed and improve the user experience.

What is the button on the FP2 used for? What happens if I press it?

The button is used for device resetting.
1) Press and hold for 10 seconds to reset the network.
2) Press it quickly 10 times to restore the factory settings.

How to add FP2 to Aqara Home app?

Open the Aqara Home app > tap "Home" >"+" in the upper right corner of the app > "Add accessory" > search "Presence Sensor FP2" > add it according to instructions

Does FP2 support local automation?

Yes, but a hub with a version of 3.5.0 or above that supports Wi-Fi local automation is required.

What is the proper distance between FP2 and the hub? Can its detection penetrate walls?

When used in home environments, the recommended distance between the FP2 and the hub should not exceed 20 meters. There shall be no more than two walls between them.

How can I verify if the installation position of the FP2 is proper?

1) After binding successfully, if the device homepage can display a small icon of a person whose motion is consistent with yours, then the device can normally report the location data. (Note: There will be a delay in device display, due to the communication between the device and the server.)
2) If an absence is detected within 30 seconds after leaving the detection area, it means that the current installation position of the device can function normally. The quicker the response is, the less interference there is, and the easier for the sensor to detect accurately. If an absence event takes a long time to occur or is not reported, it means that there is some interference in the space. Please check your environment and move somewhere else to configure the device.
3) When it is installed, please avoid moving objects and moving objects within a certain period to avoid false alarms.

Why does FP2 sometimes go offline?

The device may be too far away from the Wi-Fi router or there are metal obstacles in between. You can try to move it closer to the router and avoid metal obstacles.
Note: To achieve a better experience, please upgrade the device firmware in a timely manner to ensure compatibility and stable communication between devices.

How to set up automation based on zone detection?

After setting up the zone, the automation condition will add zone detection, which supports zone automation. For example, if you set up a sofa zone, you want to set up the light to turn on when entering the sofa zone: Click the "+ " in the upper right corner of the automation page, select FP2 > Zone Detection> Zone > Enter in the "IF" section, and select the light> Light in the "Then" section to complete the automation setting.

What is the detection range of FP2?

When wall-mounted, the horizontal detection angle is 120 degrees, and the radial distance is about 8 meters. When ceiling-mounted at a height of 2.8 meters, it can cover a radius of 2 meters.

What is approaching automation? And what is the distance setting for?

Users can configure automation for approaching the sensors or zones, such as turning on the light when approaching the zone. The three levels of distance represent 1 meter, 2 meters, and 3 meters, respectively. After setting it up, entering this threshold from a distance will trigger an approaching event, and leaving this threshold from a close distance will trigger a going-away event.

How is the Left-Right Detection mode differ from Default mode?

Default mode can detection presence within the detection zone. The Left-Right Detection mode can detection the direction of presence entering/leaving from both sides of the zone to help better distinguish scenes. For example,in scenes where entering/exiting needs to be distinguished, left and right detection can be selected. Default mode is the basic setup, while Left-Right Detection mode will require a larger amount of data transmission than the former. If there is no need for directional detection,it is recommended to turn on default detection mode.

How to improve the accuracy of zone detection (avoid false alarms, missed alarms, ghosting, delays, etc.)?

1. Installation Location: Select a location free from disruptions like glass, mirrors, metal, water, air conditioners, fans, and curtains. If such interference can't be avoided, position these elements in the FP2 monitor's blind spots.

2. Device Installation: Mount the device at a suitable height on the wall, ensuring the logo is level. The device covers a 120-degree horizontal and 20-degree vertical detection range, up to 8 meters. Incorrect installation height can lead to detection errors and false alarms.

3. Edges Configuration: Define the maximum detection area and set other areas as edges.

4. Entrances and Exits Configuration: Properly setting up entrance and exit is crucial for efficient target recognition and elimination, ensuring timely and precise detection.

5. Interference Configuration: Identify and mark areas with potential disturbances, such as air conditioners, fans, or moving curtains, as interference zones.

6. Presence Monitoring Sensitivity: Adjust sensitivity to ensure better detection of subtle movements, facilitating the activation and maintenance of the “presence” status.

7. Space Intelligent Learning: Conduct “Space Intelligent Learning” when the area is unoccupied to reduce environmental and background noise interference.

8. AI Person Detection: Enable this function as needed to minimize false alarms caused by non-human movements like robot vacuums and pets.

9. False Alarm Management: In case of false alarms due to interference, adjust the settings to account for these elements while removing the target.

What are the processes and precautions for adding FP2 to Apple HomeKit

To add FP2 to Apple "Home", ensure that your phone and the home hub (such as HomePod) are connected to the same local network. The phone should be connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi or mixed-frequency WiFi (supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz). Follow the "Home" prompts to scan the HomeKit QR code on the back of the device for networking and adding the device. Detection area-related settings are made in the Aqara Home App and can be synchronized with HomeKit.

Precautions:

1. If the Apple HomeKit home does not have a hub added: FP2 can still be networked and used normally, but local control is not available.
2. If the Apple HomeKit home has a hub added: When networking, the phone and hub must be connected to the same local network.
3. For localized control of FP2, it requires that FP2 and the home hub be on the same local network.

Troubleshooting:

Error Code 74: If the Apple HomeKit home hub is offline or the hub and phone are not on the same local network, Error Code 74 will be displayed. Please connect the phone, FP2, and the hub to the same local network.

Can I use the sleep monitoring, zone Detection, and Fall Detection modes simultaneously?

The FP2 features 3 distinct modes that can't run simultaneously. You can switch to your desired mode, and each comes with specific setup method. Between modes, respective guidance is provided.

How can I improve my sleep report accuracy?

To improve sleep report accuracy:
1. Fine-tune the exact position of your monitored zone.
2. Minimize interferences. Devices like air conditioners, fans, and curtains might disrupt the radar's scan. Try to keep them away or turn them off.
3. Run "AI Space Learning" when the room is in "absence" state. This will help improve detection accuracy.
4. Adjust the monitoring sensitivity: higher detects small movements but may miss "absence" events; lower minimizes false alerts but could miss actual movements.
5. Note that sleep monitoring is designed for single-person detection. For a shared sleeping environment, set the monitoring zone to one side to minimize interference.

How should I set the right detection sensitivity for sleep monitoring?

The working principle is the same as presence detection. If you're getting false “absence" notifications, increase the sensitivity. If you don’t receive any when leaving the bed, then decrease it.

Can FP2 sleep-monitors two people?

Sleep monitoring is designed for single-person monitoring. For monitoring two people, it's recommended to install separate FP2s and set distinct sleeping areas for each. Note that nearby objects may still interfere with sleep reports.

Will a thick blanket disrupt the accuracy of sleep monitoring?

No. The millimeter-wave radar can detect subtle body movements like breathing. With FP2's AI algorithms, the device smartly assesses sleep based on movements, heart rate, and other metrics.

Does monitoring with millimeter-wave radar have any impact on human health?

Millimeter-wave radar, widely utilized in smart home applications, operates at frequencies that are in compliance with established human safety standards. The level of radiation emitted by FP2 is significantly lower than harmful thresholds and the radiation from mobile phones which is generally considered safe for everyday use.

Will multiple FP2s in the same room interfere with each other?

Multiple FP2s in the same space generally won't interfere if not directly facing each other, allowing simultaneous operation in various modes.

FAQ

Both are smart wall switches with the same main functions. However, the former needs to be connected to the neutral wire and the live wire, and the latter only needs to be connected to the live wire for the power supply. You can choose based on the lighting wiring design of your home.
The wall switch needs to be connected to the wire. The most important function is to remotely and intelligently control the power of the connected circuit. To transform the ordinary electric light into a smart light, the wall switch is required; the wireless switch is a controller that can control wall switches and other devices via the app but cannot directly control non-smart lights independently.
Lights such as smart lights, color-changing lights, gradient lights, remote control lights and light strips, and high-power appliances such as bathroom heater are not supported.
Normally, the live wire is red, the neutral wire is black or blue, and the lamp load wire is generally green or yellow. A test by a professional electrician with professional tools such as electric pens should be performed before installation.
In the case of an incorrect connection, the wall switch may not work normally, and the switch may burn out in severe cases. Please strictly follow the wiring instructions, or hire a professional electrician for installation.
①Since the Smart Wall Switch (With Neutral, Single/Double Rocker) is connected to the neutral wire and the live wire, there is no minimum load requirement.
②For the Smart Wall Switch (No Neutral, Single/Double Rocker), normally each load can support 3W energy-saving lamps, LED lamps or 16W fluorescent lamps at least. However, for some lamps of small brands or lamps with poor materials, due to the internal circuit design of the lamps, even if the power is greater than the above requirements, it may cause abnormal phenomena such as lamp flicker and switch crashes. Please choose the lamp carefully.
*Please note: If it is an old-fashioned tube lamp with a starter, please replace the electronic starter.
When the power of the lamp connected to the Smart Wall Switch H1 EU (No Neutral Version) is lower than the minimum power requirement, sometimes it will flicker when the switch is turned off. In addition, lamps of mainstream brand works better with Smart Wall Switch H1 EU (No Neutral Version) and some lamps of small brands or copycat manufacturers may flicker or cause the switch to crash due to the poor internal circuit design and material problems. Please choose the lamps properly.
Firstly, by using the Smart Wall Switch H1 EU with the Wireless Remote Switch, dual-/multi-control functions can be used very easily. The Wireless Remote Switch can be put in most places in your home to control the Smart Wall Switch via smart automation; secondly, if the original switches in your home are dual-controllers and you only replace one of the switches with the Smart Wall Switch H1 EU, please keep the other ordinary switch short-circuited and replace it with a wireless switch, otherwise, the Zigbee communication module of Smart Wall Switch can not be powered when the other switch is powered off and the switch cannot be controlled intelligently.
The size of the product is 85.8*86*37.55 (mm), and the depth of the Smart Wall Switch installed inside the wall is within 30mm.

FAQ

What types of valves are supported for the installation of the thermostat?

The size of nuts of the thermostat is [M30*1.5mm], and the accessories include: adaptors for the three types of valves (RA, RAV, RAVL), please refer to the operation manual for the installation method.

What precautions should be taken for the installation of the thermostat and the calibration of the valve?

Every time after the thermostat is powered on, the installation state will be activated ([F11] interface), and it is suggested that the thermostat should be installed on the valve within 5 minutes, after the installation is complete, press the key three times successively to carry out valve calibration, or proceed with networking in accordance with the operation manual, and then carry out valve calibration after the networking is complete.
*Reminder: if installation is not complete within 10 min after power-on, please first remove the battery, then put the battery back, and power on for installation.

What is valve calibration?

Because the push rods of different valves have different strokes, it is necessary to carry out calibration of the valve before installation, so that the open/close stroke of the valve can be adaptable, which is an important step to make sure of correct temperature control. After power-on, it is suggested that the thermostat should be installed on the valve within 5 min. You may press the key three times successively to carry out the valve calibration, or do the same with the Aqara Home app.

After the battery is put in place, why is the thermostat not reacting?

Possible causes:
A. The battery is reversed, so please reinstall the battery (note: wait 30 sec before reinstalling the battery, after the battery is removed).
B. Battery power is low. Please replace the battery.
C. Product failure. Please contact the vendor for repair or replacement of the product.
*Reminder: if the thermostat automatically shuts down, it may be caused by low battery power. In that case, it is suggested that the battery should be replaced.

How to place a networked temperature sensor?

When networked, the Aqara Temperature & Humidity Sensor should be placed in the same room with the thermostat, 2-3 meters away from the thermostat, but it should not be placed too close to windows.
*Reminder: the Aqara Temperature & Humidity Sensor is supported only if it is networked under the same hub.

What is the function of the built-in temperature sensor?

The thermostat has a built-in temperature sensor, which is used to detect the temperature around the radiator and provide auxiliary temperature control. You can also use the Connect the Temperature Sensor function with the Aqara Home app to network with the Aqara Temperature & Humidity Sensor, to get a better temperature control experience.

What is Manual mode?

Once a temperature value is manually set, the thermostat will regulate and keep the temperature with reference to the set temperature. For instance, under the manual mode, if the Smart Schedule is enabled, the temperature regulation will be performed in accordance with the temperature regulation plan of the Smart Schedule.

What is Anti-freeze mode?

In case of prolonged travel in winter (e.g. tourism or business trip), the anti-freeze mode can be enabled to avoid freezing of water pipes due to low temperature, in which case low-temperature operation will be active.

What is the function of the Smart Schedule?

You may set the smart temperature control plan for a day, and activate the plan, then the thermostat will automatically regulate the temperature according to the plan. If the temperature in a certain time frame of the original plan becomes inappropriate due to abrupt weather changes (e.g. sudden rise in outdoor temperature), you may not need to shut down the smart schedule, but can manually regulate the temperature of the current time frame, without creating an impact on the temperature planning of the subsequent time frame, to cope with the sudden changes of weather conditions more flexibly.

What is "Window-open detection"?

When the indoor temperature plunges in a short time, the system will remind the user that it may be resulted from the opening of doors or windows, and will simultaneously close the valve for 30 min to avoid energy waste. You can also set up networking with the Aqara Door and Window Sensor through the Automation function, in order to get a more precise experience of window-open detection.

Why does the Aqara Home app prompt for temperature control abnormality and the LCD screen displays the fault icon?

You can enable/disable the Valve Detection function on the settings page. In order to prevent the prolonged low-temperature or high-temperature state of room temperature from becoming uncomfortable, the thermostat will remind the user of temperature control abnormality when it detects that the room temperature can't reach the set temperature, after heating is started, for the following possible causes:
A. The thermostat is not installed correctly. It is suggested that you should remove the battery and put it back 30 sec later, then reinstall the thermostat and calibrate it again, and further wait for a period of time, and then observe whether the fault is eliminated.
B. The room temperature is significantly higher than the set temperature due to the incorrect temperature setting. It is suggested that you should re-set the temperature again, wait for a period of time, and then observe whether the fault is eliminated.
C. Valve failure. Please replace the valve, reinstall the thermostat, and carry out valve calibration.
D. The room is too large (the radiator is not matching) or there is too much ventilation in the room. It is suggested that you should replace the radiator or test whether the room door or window is opened or leaking air.
E. The inlet water pressure or inlet water temperature is too low. Please check the inlet water pressure and inlet water temperature.
F. Upon networking with the temperature sensors, no linkage is established with the temperature sensor in the same room, or the distance from the temperature sensor to the radiator is remote (it is recommended that the temperature sensor should be placed in the same room with the thermostat, for a distance of 2-3m from the thermostat).

Why, when the thermostat operates correctly, is the room temperature is obviously higher than the set temperature?

Possible causes:
A. The thermostat is not correctly installed. Remove the valve from the thermostat, withdraw the battery and wait for 30 sec, then put the battery back, and reinstall the thermostat, and carry out valve calibration when the device's screen displays the [F11] installation interface (you can press the key three times successively to carry out valve calibration, or do the same with the Aqara Home app).
B. Valve failure. After replacing the malfunctioning valve, reinstall the valve and carry out valve calibration according to the above step.

Why, when the thermostat seems to operate normally, is the room temperature is obviously lower than the set temperature?

Possible causes:
A. Valve failure. After replacing the valve, withdraw the battery and wait for 30 sec, then put the battery back, and reinstall the thermostat, and carry out valve calibration.
B. The water inlet temperature of the radiator is low. Please contact professional technicians to overhaul the hot-water pipeline.

Why can't the thermostat can't be operated through the Aqara Home app?

Possible causes:
A. The thermostat is not networked with the Aqara Home app. Please carry out re-networking.
B. The thermostat is too far from the hub, or there are multiple barriers in between. Please adjust the distance, or provide more hubs.
C. Battery power is low. Please replace the battery.

Why, when the thermostat seems to operate normally, does the room temperature not remain constant?

Possible causes:
A. Battery power is low. Please replace the battery.
B. Too much ventilation in the room, which results in excessive heat loss. Please check whether the room door or window is opened or leaking air.
C. Check the installation position of the networked temperature sensor, and verify whether the networked temperature sensor is remote from the thermostat (greater than the range of 2-3 m) or placed too close to any ventilation spot (such as a door or window).

Why is the Aqara Home app prompting linkage abnormality?

Possible causes:
A. The networked device (temperature sensor) is offline, malfunctioning, or abnormally networked, etc. Please check the networked device, or carry out re-networking.

How long will the battery last?

The sustainability of the battery depends on the user's temperature regulation frequency and the power-on/power-off frequency of the thermostat. In winter, it is suggested that you should not frequently power on and off the thermostat, to reduce the use frequency of the motor. In the summer season, when heating is suspended, it is suggested that you should power off the thermostat to reduce the loss of the battery's power capacity.

What is the function of creating a device group?

You can organize multiple thermostats in a room into a group to realize collective temperature regulation, power-on/off, mode switching, and create automation. This function only supports device control, and doesn't support device status synchronization.

1. According to the characteristics of automations, the execution methods are divided into the cloud method and the local method. It can be viewed in Automation> More settings (three dots in the upper right corner)> Execution method.
2. The automation of cloud execution needs to rely on the network to upload the signal sensed by the trigger device to the cloud, and the cloud then sends the corresponding control command to the execution device. Therefore, once the hub is disconnected from the network, automation cannot be executed.
3. In the automation of local execution, the trigger device will send the sensed signal to the hub, and the hub will send the corresponding control command to the execution device through Zigbee or LAN. So even if the router cannot connect to the external network, as long as the communication connection between the hub and the execution device is normal, automation can still be executed.
